From what I've managed to find out the steel is something called C100, or C1000 (although I'd put my money on C100), but how true that is I don't know. As I prefer my carbon steel to be as close to basic iron and about 1% give or take of carbon, to satisfy the history nerd in me, I prefer carbon steel that has the fewest additions possible. So like 1095, 01, A2 (just) are what floats my boat. I like the basic steel thing. It sharpens up really well with just a strop and it bends back into perfectly straight even after going through the most twisted timber. It's tough and durable and if you half look after it it's going to last you as long as any stainless, maybe even longer as you're less likely to leave a piece of it behind in the log you're batoning.

I don’t use spinning rods but for comparable spec casting Lite Pro and GX2 the Lite Pro definitely feels lighter to me. I remember they used to advertise them as having 35% more graphite than a gx2. They feel very similar to the Elite I have of the same specs and virtually the same as my Intercoastal UglyStik.

I still use a Daiwa Mini-Spin I was gifted way back in the mid 80s. Lightweight 4 or 5 piece UL rod and graphite reel that packs up in a plastic hard case. This set-up was always 1st choice for motorcycle trips, or hiking/camping, and anything you catch on 4 lb. test is fun. The Amundson you review looks a quality offering...Time will tell, keep us posted.

🎣 this is what I've been looking for. I want to start fishing the river and I'm going to need a good Shakespeare ugly stick rod and reel spinning combo. Probably around the second week of July I may be going up to Cabela's to see what they have up there. I miss fishing for catfish, big perch and Bass. Never fist for bass before, I had always fished for trout. This is definitely a great review and I enjoyed it plus thanks for the information about the rod and reel combo 👍🏻👍🏻

this is good information, but what do you say about putting the weight distribution hitch on, it may force more stress on the "A" frame of the trailer and could cause problems down the road. just asking your thoughts. pro or con. there are a video on RUclips in reference to this.

I've been fishing everywhere for 40 years. I have been an ugly stik fan all my life. The gx2 non ceramic guides suck. Not only are they not bulletproof, they are not even monofilament line proof. When I noticed the wear on the guides that were sawed into a serrated edge from monofilament line, I replaced them all with ceramic guides. So, I'm not sure what your talking about regarding the guides. Use the rod for awhile, then write your new review.

wow I know it looks more badass whitout reflectors, but there's no good reason to become invisible on the road, unless you don't want to live long. These reflectors are important for your protection and it protects your bike when parked on a street !

Thanks for posting this, and thank you for your service. USN vet here. I always feel strange going to my local dealer, Conrad’s in Joliet. I remember when I was buying my first motorcycle in 2003 and wanted a stock Dyna-they said no and went on to say they added things I would eventually add myself. It's just not true and highly presumptuous. I am convinced the add-ons were to drive up the price and financing charges. That salesman still works there today. With that, I bought a Yamaha. I purchased my 2005 FLHRCI at another dealer, Crete HD, which no longer exists, but it was not a good experience either. I was a novice and steered into something that I never considered. That won’t happen again. I am thinking that an Indian Challenger Elite is in my future. I like the CVO Road Glide about the same, but I don’t think I even want to deal with HD to comparison shop.

Just bought a Coleman lantern 17r cash $13750 and I almost had to beg to buy it non financed when finally accepted they wanted to charge me for the walk through and battery propane tank $2200 , went to pickup the trailer and I had to check it myself then I told the salesman that when couple trims missing and my wife asked him about those trims and he yelled and treated us like crap even had to go to another office and he left outside and didn’t enter to the office area until we left, that was in Las Vegas and salesman Timothy be aware and run from him or camping world, also extended warranty was over $7000 which is Half of what the trailer costed

The Carbon has a horrible grip I found extremely uncomfortable so I went with the elite with the cork grip that feels way nicer in the hand, If you have small size hands you probably could hold it but for me the handle ends less than halfway in my hand so my entire back part of my hand is floating in the air and when I catch a fish the back of my hand moves down in an uncomfortable angle to hit the rod part below the handle
